A BJ friend held a birthday party on Friday. I thought it's a good oppertunity for Chef Chan to show his talent.
 
Do u remember Chef Chan? A famous baker coming from Singapore living with me in Joe's home who is employed as the products superviser of K'n B (see blog #2 for details).  Now he starts to develop a chef series of cakes in a branch shop. In the future this branch shop will become a role model for other shops to learn.
 
I ordered a big birthday cake (for 15 guests) from him and gave him a cake design photo (from a Japanese cake catalogue which Cherry brought it from Japan) as reference.
 
On Wednsday I went to the branch shop to taste the cake samples, double layers cheese cake; chocolate and coffee cakes...etc. All were tasteful and difficult to be chosen as the constituent of the bday cake.

Finally he told me that he wanted to do the simple recipe: strawberry cream sponge cake. He gave me a sample to taste. I found that it was simple but very balance in texture, sweetness, richness and highlighted by a little sourness of strawberry. The overall feeling was fresh which kept me couldn't stop eating and eating.

On Friday since the party would be held at 10:00pm, I went to pick up the cake at ~7:00pm. However, I found that the design looking different from the reference photo I gave him before. I was thinking I had to respect chef's own creative idea so I finally accepted the cake.

Before leaving I went to toilet for a while. When I came back I was very surprised that Chef Chan dismentled the cake and rebuilt it again. 

He told me that he forgot to follow the reference photo!

I had nothing to say and let him to re-do the cake. Then I picked my camera out and shot the process.

It only required about 15 mins to re-build the cake! So efficient.

Finally that night guests enjoyed the cake very much and asked me where to buy it from.

I felt very proud of chef Chan. ^_^
